The Lakeside Ramblers have been selected as Band of the Year for three years in a row (1999, 2000 and 2001) at the Annual General meeting of The B.C. Bluegrass Association held each September. In August 2000 the band traveled to Stoney Plain, Alberta to attend the Blueberry Bluegrass and Country Festival where they entered and won the Band Showcase. The following year they returned to the Main stage at Blueberry, and played to an appreciative crowd of about 5,000 fans. The band has hosted their own Cluculz Lake Bluegrass and Country Music Jamboree twice a year for the last seven years and have held several, successful concerts. The summer of 2001 was LSR's most enjoyable ever having had the good fortune to play at some major festivals alongside "The Seldom Scene, Sally Jones, Lost Highway, Special Consensus, Liberty Bluegrass, Northern Lights and several others." Along the way, they have gathered lots of positive comments about their performances throughout BC and Alberta. In September 2002, the Lakeside Ramblers had their first appearance in Washington State. In 2003 the band played many festivals and did a gospel weekend in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. During 2004 the group took a year off (playing only a few venues) to reorganize and learn new material. They are back this year with some new tunes and old favorites. The Lakeside Ramblers have produced two recordings of bluegrass music. The first recording, (Maybe This Time) was released on April 1, 1999 with sixteen traditional and contemporary Bluegrass songs. The second recording (Ramble in Bluegrass) was released in July 2001. This project contains a wide variety of material that demonstrates the band’s flexibility and range. In live performances the band offers up an exciting mix of ballads, gospel tunes, bouncy toe-tapping bluegrass favorites and some original compositions. Marlene Bernier has recently released her solo recording, Send Her No Flowers a mixture of Bluegrass and Country music. The Lakeside Ramblers are currently working on a new gospel bluegrass recording project. Fans really enjoy the Lakeside Ramblers superb three and four part harmony vocals featuring rich and exciting blends of male and female voices. The Ramblers are very committed to Bluegrass music and are always looking to improve their sound by experimenting with harmonies and instrumentation. Some of the Lakeside Ramblers Music
