Guitar Lessons & Live Music Bill Vollrath lives in Kitimat, BC where he has been involved in the music scene playing in various bands, doing coffee houses and dabbling in community theatre since he arrived from North Bay, Ontario in 19 "O" 80 with a pack sack on his back and a guitar in his hand. For about 17 years up to the end of 2005, Bill ran "Bill's Guitar Shop" in Kitimat where he sold musical supplies and provided guitar lessons. Some of Bill's former students have gone on to rather promising careers in the music industry. In 2000, Bill underwent back surgery which was not totally successful and he is now on a disability pension and doing volunteer community service work as he is able. Bill loves music with a passion and also the Lord Jesus so he loves to be able to use his guitar playing ability in worship services. He played lead guitar for the Christian rock band "REVIVER" for a few years. The band produced a really great CD in 2006. It is entitled "Rain Down". Bill did the lead guitar parts in a Kelowna studio on 5 or 6 of the cuts on that album. Bill's biggest musical influence during his years of learning guitar since the age of 9 has been the classic rock of the 70's and 80's such as Led Zep, Nazareth, Pink Floyd and April Wine as well as Blues artists like SRV, BB King and Buddy Guy. But there was also a strong influence of jazz standards from his Mom's collection and classic country from his Dad's collection. These days, Bill listens mostly to contemporary Christian rock like Third Day, Chris Tomlin and Big Tent Revival but he still has a record player and a large collection of vinyl (about 8000 LPs actually!) This collection is eclectic to say the least with music ranging from Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones to Hank Williams (Jr. and Sr.) to Long John Baldry to Wild Cherry to AC/DC to Yngwie Malmsteen and Megadeth! Bill listens to it all and has tried to learn most of the guitar parts on it all. He can't shred like Yngwie though. Bill prefers to play a long, slow note that'll dig deep into your heart rather than play a thousand notes at the speed of light. Those notes may impress you but they won't touch your heart. Bill also puts on a great show as a single. He sings and plays soft rock, blues, country and jazz on acoustic guitar with live looping. Bill is listing here to say, "Hey, if you need some acoustic, electric or bass guitar work (or harmonica) on your new CD or maybe a stand-in for a live gig, give me a call!" I will do the best I can to help you get the sound you're looking for, I won't cost you a fortune and I will donate a portion of my earnings to an orphanage in Congo, Africa. Mamma Jeanne's Orphanage is a Kitimat church's sponsored group in Africa and they need all the help they can get! Bill is always accepting new students on to his wait-list to take guitar lessons at his home studio in Kitimat. Call Bill at 250 632-2069 to book your lessons! Beginner to intermediate students welcome. Visit Bill on FacebookMay God bless you and I hope to hear from you! Bill Vollrath eMail:
